Christmas quizzes in time for Christmas! :)

Christmas season, my friends. :) Happy Holidays! (and yes, I'm back from Baguio)

Your Christmas spirit is almost as big as Christmas itself. Christmas is definitely your thing.
You celebrate Christmas with enthusiasm. You love every minute of the holidays.

Your Christmas spirit is inspiring to everyone who runs into you during the holidays.
You make everyone's day just a little bit brighter. And that's what the holidays are all about!

Santa Claus is coming to town

And opening your presents like a wild animal!

Your Christmas Stocking Will Be Filled With a Stuffed Animal

Either Santa got your Christmas wish many years late...
Or he secretly thinks you're a bit immature!

Coffee.

It's been a while since I've posted one of my lists. :) I think it's due time that I do. :P

As most of my friends know, I'm a total COFFEE LOVER. And the Christmas season is also my coffee season. Can you guess why? The Starbucks special flavors, of course. :P I enjoy walking into the beautiful Starbucks threshold (either alone, with friends, or with my family), walking up to the counter, and finally telling the barista, "One tall, decaf, peppermint mocha latte please, warm." with a big smile and confidence in my voice. Oh yes, PEPPERMINT.

What is it about coffee that I absolutely love? Here's my list:

What I Totally LOVE About Coffee

1. The scent.
It's undeniable. Taking a whiff of your still-hot cup of coffee is surrenderance to its strong temptation to, "Don't wait 'till I'm warm, Nicah. You know you want me NOW, when I'm still scorching hot." It's pure seduction! And all you can do is indulge, indulge, indulge.

2. The look.
Okay, so it's brown. But then what happens when you add your creamer, sugar, cinnamon powder and what-haves? You get a nice soft hazel brown, just like the fur of my little chihuahua (hence the name, Frappie :P). Plus, have you seen pictures of newly-stirred and steaming coffee? With the cream still marble-ing into the dark brown solution? It's beautiful. :)

3. The warmth.
You know how the mug or cup feels like when there's warm coffee inside? It's so comforting. :) It's like your hands being wrapped in nice, soft, thick blankets. And the warmth resonates to the other parts of your body. :) And the climax of the warmth is when the coffee is finally sliding down your throat: it's pure magic. :)

4. The taste! (finally.)
Oh my goodness. If you've never tasted coffee, then you're missing out on a lot... Oh gee, I don't even know how to express it. Just get yourself a cup of good coffee. Now. Run to Starbucks, Gloria Jean's, or whatever. Just get your coffee. You probably desperately need it. :

AH yes, coffee. Who doesn't love it? Some tall person, probably. :)) I'm really short. :)) Because of all the caffeine. But at least I'm cute and petite, right? :D Mom says some guys like petite. Makes them feel that they can protect me more. :))

Anyway, enjoy your coffee, sweeties. :) Enjoy your Christmas season. :)

Chimo!

Nicah.

P.S. I'll be out of town for a while, I'll write as soon as I get back. :)

I'm back! And in a partying mood, too. :>

Oh wow, I haven't blogged in a loooong time. :| But now I'm here again, and hopefully I'm here to stay. :D Oh bloggie, I've missed you so! *insert romantic reuniting scene here*

Anyway, today, at school, we had our Christmas party. Oh yes, CHRISTMAS PARTY! We had loads of food and fun games (e.g. plastic bag dance, the longest line, fastest nail polish application?). DigiCams were flashing everywhere, taking stolen (not to mention embarrassing!) pictures, and catching on film memory card the bonding and funny moments we were having with each other. :)

I got loaads of gifts! Including this ADORABLE cow that my best friend, Camille, got me. :D (I don't think I've mentioned that I absolutely LOVE COWS.) I named it Poogie. As in the Filipino word for "handsome", pogi, except with a long O. :> I'll shall post his life story soon. :P

So what do these 2 weeks of vacation have in store for me? Well, let's see:

What's Up Christmas Break o7-o8

1. Last-minute Christmas shopping!
oh yes, I wasn't able to finish everything with all the studying I had to do, honey. :|

2. Planning for somebody's *insert inaudible whispering here*.
heeheehee. :D

3. Going to Ba-gui-ohh City. :>
tonna go horseback riding in the cold of the December Philippine highlands. :> :| :))

4. Celebrating Christmas!!! :)
there will be loads of food, music, beautiful lights, and presents! We're going to spend Christmas as a family, and celebrate the birthday of our Lord and Savior. :)

5. My group is going to be doing our I.P. (investigatory project) video at my place. :>
actually, afterwards, we're going swimming at the country club. :))

6. Starting band rehearsals to prepare for the grade school fair. :>
enough said, my dear. :D

7.  Going out of town for the second time. :)
I forget where... :)) I think... Bacolod ata?

8. NEW YEAR'S PARTY!!!!
we're all going to be talking loud, stuffing our mouths, watching fireworks, staying up reaaally late!, and jumping REALLY high to become REALLY tall. :D (especially I) Time to write those resolutions!

9. Barkada gimmick, anyone?
oh yes, time to have some fuuuun.

10. Being thankful for the break. :)
I've been working so hard lately... I need this break! Thank God. But I will miss my friends. :( :D

That's all for now, friends.

God bless you all! Take care.

Have a Merry Christmas! :)

'Till next time,
Nicah.

P.S. Please leave a note in my cbox, over there, on the side. :D Thanks!

Reaching Out

Okay, so I haven't blogged in a long while. But I'm back! :) And with an experience I'd like to share. :D

Yesterday was a really cool day.

Our school has an program called the Kapitbahay Outreach Program. "Kapitbahay", in Tagalog, means "neighbor", and the idea is that we reach out to our less-fortunate neighbors from different squatter areas and public schools. And yesterday, we had our Grade 7 Kapitbahay.

It was raining early in the morning yesterday, so the original plan, to ride a jeepney to Krus Na Ligas Public School, was cancelled. Instead, the students will be coming to us. With our ensaymadas and tetra pack juices ready, and with our donation of books and school supplies at hand, we were ready for them.

They each came in one by one, going to their respective ates, whom were expected to take care of their kids for the rest of the wet morning. My partner and I received a boy named Rinnel. He looked much like the quiet type. Gabin (meh partner) and I asked him about his family and his life at school.
He has 6 other siblings, each studying at the same school. His dad works as a carpenter, and his mom stays at home to care for him and his siblings. His favorite subject is Math, and he enjoys drawing more than reading. Someday, he wants to become a teacher.

Talking to him was interesting. I realized that he lived a pretty much normal life, with family and school, and with the same dreams as anyone else. And he definitely wasn't the shy type.

My partner and I began to read to him, when he said that he wanted to read on his own. So he read the Filipino book out loud to us, and Gabin and I were surprised when he was reading even more fluently then she and I were! :) I couldn't help but smile.
During to Response to Literature portion of the program, Rinnel drew his favorite character, a talking car, with cartoonist-like precision. He wanted his drawing to look exactly like the one in the book. We were again surprised with his perfectionist style and how headstrong he was on completing the drawing. :)

It was time to eat. We offered him a really yummy-looking ensaymada and some juice. He said he wasn't hungry. Although we begged him to eat, he really didn't want to. It was kind of weird to us. Then we realized we should ask him why, and he responded, in Tagalog, "I want to bring it home to my family." My partner and I smiled, and said that he could have more to take home after he ate. He smiled and took a bite. :)

Saying goodbye was bittersweet. All of my classmates enjoyed spending time with their Kapitbahay kid, and all of us were surprised to see their works of art and to hear how well they understood the story read to them. The kids were clearly happy to bring home new pencils, crayons and books. Not to mention food. But their hugs goodbye made us want to spend more time with them. :( And when they left, all we had left to remember them by were our memories.

Meeting the students, especially Rinnel, has changed my attitude towards my studies, and towards the less-fortunate. Those kids were just like any kids in the fourth grade, except that maybe they really work hard to get high grades, they listen in class, and they study because they're thankful for the oppurtunity, and they want to make their families happy. Makes me want to do better at school, myself. :)

If someday you read this Rinnel, thanks. :) God bless, take care! :)

Nicah.

QUIZZES: am I hot? and what do guys like about you? :> (for my galpals)

You Are More Mild Than Wild

You're confident, and you really aren't concerned with how "hot" you are.
Other people's ideas of what's sexy don't concern you. And this is exactly what makes you attractive.

I love it. :D

Guys Like That You're Sensitive

And not in that "cry at a drop of a hat" sort of way
You just get most guys - even if you're not trying to
Guys find it is easy to confide in you and tell you their secrets
No wonder you tend to get close quickly in relationships!

Is this true? XP

The Greatest Bookstore In The Philippines.

I was there. I saw the spendor. And what can I say? "Woah."

My mom took me there 2 days ago, since she had a meeting at the Starbucks INSIDE the bookstore. Fully-Booked, it's called. Fully-Booked is one of the more high-class bookstores in the Philippines, it's way up there with Sketchbooks and A Different Kind of Bookstore.

It has 4 floors up, and a basement. Yes, a basement. And the books and materials and resources? Oh my. I can't even say how NICE they were. Here are some pictures I took. (which reminded me of some of my friends. :P)

CD rack. Yes, they sell music. o.O JazzPER. :))

Ok, this is just funny. :)) I got it from the inside of a "weird toys" book. :)) Reminded me of Regina. :P

NANCY DREW!!! Love the colors. :D Reminded me of Josh and Mishka! :D

It's just a nice quote. :D

Anyway, yeah... I bought a cute hardbound notebook so I could start a diary again. :)

Pero grabe, I felt like I was in ME heaven. Books, coffee and music. It was awesome!!! Even when my mom was done with her meeting, I still needed more time to explore the store. It was sooo COOL.

You guys should check it out soon. :D It's at Bonifacio High Street. it's huge. Can't miss it. :P

God bless you guys, take care ya'll!

Nicah.

Life Verses. :D

Just recently, I remembered a challenge our discipleship group leader gave us. She said to find a life verse. She said that a life verse is a Bible verse that best applies to your life, or a Bible verse that strikes you in a different way than other verses. So anyway, I decided to take the challenge. :) I found 2 verses that affected me most.

1. Psalm 73:25
My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
I really like this verse because it is such a great encouragement and assurance of God's love. It says that people are weak, and we can't do everything on our own. In fact, we can't do anything on our own. So when our own strength fails, and when we think we can't take it anymore, God is the strength of our hearts. He loves us so much, and He'll help us keep on going. :) He's the reason why we can go on even after a fight with our parents or a struggle we have, or whatever.. :)

Here's a song that came from this verse:

Whom have I in heaven but You
There is nothing on earth I desire beside You
My heart and my strength many times they fail
But there is one truth that always will prevail

God is the strength of my heart
God is the strength of my heart
God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever, forever

2. 1 Timothy 4:12
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
I like this one, too, because it tells us that even the young, and maybe those who aren't as smart or tall or even as pretty as others can be an example to other other people. And for me, it says that I can make a difference for God in the lives of other people. :) And that pushes me even more to be a better person. :)

Being able to find my life verse/s is a great achievement for me. :) Praise God. If you guys have a life verse too, feel free to share it with me! :) Comment please. :D

God bless you guys, take care! :)

When the cup cakes,
Nicah

P.S. I miss you JI people!

Feelin' Fabulous. ;)

Fabu. Faboolous. Whatever you want to call it... That's how I'm feeling. :D

I dunno, I guess everything's been going so well. I got my scores for the examinations, and they were pretty good. Praise God. :) and school work is still light. Friends, family life has been good. And I feel really good about myself. :) I'm at the peak of my happiness joy (joy- long lasting happiness) level for this past week. :) and that's really really good.

I do miss my lists though. :D So here is a list of the things that I need to make my life perfect right now:

Things I Need To Make My Life Perfect (Right Now)

1. A good book to read.
I haven't read a book in a long time. I kind of need it when I'm bored... and when there's nothing better to do. XD

2. People who want chihuahua puppies!
Let me explain. :)) My dog (a beautiful, chocolate-fawn colored, brown-eyed, long-coat chihuahua) is going to be in heat next month. I'm planning to make her have one litter of puppies. :D We already have a stud. :D And I'm really really excited for her pups! Problem is, my family doesn't plan on keeping any of them, so we're going to sell them... And I'm already looking for loving homes. :D

So while I have the chance to advertise... Litter of chihuahua puppies for sale! Beautiful mother, father is full stud. :D Expected delivery: some time in November, ready to take home in february 2008. :D P15,000 for male, P17,000 for female. (tentative price)

3. My relatives and friends in the states to come over here. :(
I miss so many people from the US. :( My ninangs, godsister, friends, family. :( I really wish I could go to them, or they could go to me.

4. Sleepover!
I'm inviting some friends to sleepover at my place this saturday so some people could go to a Youth event with me. :D I really want them to come. :)

5. The ability to play the piano and be perfect pitch. :D
Haha, in my DREAMS. :P

6. The ability to play any sport!!!!
must I say more? :))

7. A shopping spree. :D
To buy all the things I want. Then load my closet and CD collection. :))

8. A purtee dress. :D
Every girl needs a pretty dress. :D hahaha.

God bless you guys! Hope you're feeling FABULOUS!

Nicaaah.

Poetry

I just took this test, got this result, and decided to post something new. :D

You Should Be a Poet

You have a way with words... and a talent for drawing the pure emotions out of experiences.
Your poetry has the potential to make people laugh and cry at the same time. You just need to write it!

Forever
by: Nicah Santos

In your eyes I am special
A gift, a person, your child
Your Son, you sent to die for me
Out of love, a sacrifice so great

There is none that compares to you
Your love lasts forever and I can say
“You are my God, my all in all
I could sing of your love forever.”

So I wail and I’m crying
For those times that I’ve sinned
A lie, a cheat, a scam
‘Cause that most fateful day repeats itself
With the nails, the cross, the Romans
So I wail and I’m crying

But Your plan, so perfect
Makes all of this okay
For Your will came true
And now we’re saved:
Gates of heaven opened

So I say again
“I could sing of your love forever”
And I will
‘Till the end of my days
Because
In your eyes I am special
A gift, a person, your child

This was a poem I wrote in 6th grade. It's freeverse, meaning nothing really rhymes, and there's no meter. XD But I think it came out alright. I mean, I really like writing, but I just need practice with my poetry. :)

Thanks guys, God bless! Keep safe from the rain. :)

Pie I Am :D

This is dedicated to Joshua :)) A pie loving friend. :))

You Are Apple Pie

You're the perfect combo of comforting and traditional
Those who like you crave security

STORM! Bwahahaha!

The storm(s) that've been hitting us are driving me NUTS. And I'm not even talking about pecan, or pea. It's COCO. As in, CocoNUTS.

My jokes are getting cornier by the second. o.O

Anyway, for those of you whom haven't heard (you people probably live on mars or something), the Philippines has been Downpour City for the past week. Thursday of last week, classes were cancelled due to the strong rains (by the way, I woke up that morning and STILL went to school. Who says we can't hang out at sCOOL during a storm? *wink*).

Following that big blast (or rather, pour), there were rains and drizzles, although that was just in Manila. The provinces in Northern Luzon were continually being hit, resulting in floods. BIG floods. Floods reaching rooftops and engulfing trees. Floods that pushed the people living there to buy and build small boats to get around.

Anyway, last Wednesday, classes were suspended. It was weird for us taking the quarterly exams because by the time the suspension was announced, we were already dimissed. :)) Oh well. Lastly, classes yesterday and today were cancelled (perhaps to build up the suspense of receiving our exam results?). Floods are continually being a problem to people in our provinces, and people living beside canals and creeks.

The report that you have been reading is actually what's been happening in Manila. I don't really know much about what's been happening farther away. o.O

Other than the suspension of classes and the very cool weather, the storms have brought about some good results. :) First of all, there was a drought two or three weeks ago. Guess what happened to it. :D Bye bye. :D The rain has supplied enough more than enough water to make our rice fields and vegetables grow. Then of course our water supplies have increased dramatically. :) Proving, of course, that there's a silver lining in every cloud (in this case, heavy, water-filled clouds).

But we can't forget our fellow countrymen (and women!) who are suffering. :( As mentioned before, the rain has brought about outrageous floods. Which of course bring about floating rats and cockroaches. Ick. But more seriously than that, adults and children alike have drowned and lost lives in this storm. :( last week's Thursday-Friday storm (from what I heard, I was probably not even updated) resulted in 10 losses. :( Siiigh.

I know God will continue to take care of us despite this disastrous event. Please just continue to pray for us. :) Thanks. God bless you guys, take care! :)

I got this quiz from Mishka's blog. :D I'm a social nerd, and proud of it. ^_^

Your Result: Social Nerd

You're interested in things such as politics, psychology, child care, and peace. I wouldn't go so far as to call you a hippie, but some of you may be tree-huggers. You're the type of people who are interested in bettering the world. You're possible the least nerdy of them all; unless you participate in other activies that paled your nerdiness compared to your involvement in social activities. Whatever the case, we could still use more of you around. ^_^

>WHAT WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY?
Rapid Hope Loss by Dashboard Confessional

You called to say you wanted out.
Well, I can't say I blame you now.
Sometimes you've got to fold
before you're found out.
Well thanks for waiting this long to show yourself.

Cause now that I can see you,
I don't think you're worth a second glance.

So much for all the promises you made, they served you well
and now you're gone and they're wasted on me.
So much for your endearing sense of charm, it served you well
and now it's gone and you're wasted on me.

Is that ME at all???!! =))

>WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY/GIRL?
Because of You by Ne-Yo

So, then it's all because of you (all because of you)
So, then it's all because of you (all because of you)
And it's all because of you (all because of you)
So, then it's all because...
Never get enough,

First of all, I don't like girls. XP AND, I don't like drugs either. :))

>WHAT IS YOUR LIFE’S PURPOSE?
Dangerous by Katherine McPhee

I wish I knew what I know now. I swear it never would’ve went down.
Dangerous. He’ll steal your heart away, then run away.
He’s dangerous. Protect your heart, he’ll tear it apart.
Dangerous. He’ll steal your heart away, then run and play.
He’s dangerous. Protect your heart, he’ll tear it apart.

I didn’t see the crash that burnt the bridge.
I didn’t see the missle that sank my loveship down.
(Oh, I felt the hit, it was as hard as a brick. It made me shift, and left me damaged.)
Dealing with the pain was so hard.
I can’t believe the things that he did to leave me scarred.

My life's purpose is to get my heart broken? *raise eyebrows* Geez. :))

WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU?
Hindi Kita Iiwan by Rey Valera

Ninais nating umibig
Gayong tutol sa atin ang panahon
Tinangka nating mangarap sa mundong sadyang mapagkait
Ngunit anuman ang mangyari sa 'ting pagma-mahalan
Mahal ko, laging umaasang...
Hindi kita iiwan
Hinding-hindi kita iiwan.

I love you mah friends! ^^

>WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR PARENTS?
Love Story by Katherine McPhee

I think it was a summer time
When I laid eyes on you
I didn't even know your name
Somehow We'd end up in the same room
It never crossed my mind
I never saw you like that
I should've listened to my best friend
She knew we'd be a perfect match

It's a typical love story
We started out as friends
We met way back when
This is just a typical love story
The boy you never wanted just steals you heart
I never saw it comin' 'til I fell so hard

Uhmm. Ohkaaay. :| :))

>WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT VERY OFTEN?
Building The Barricade from Les Miserables

Here upon these stones
We will build our barricade
In the heart of the city
We claim as our own!
Each man to his duty
And don't be afraid.
Wait! I will need a report
On the strength of the foe.
I can find out the truth
I know their ways
Fought their wars
Served my time
In the days
Of my youth!
Various Students
Now the people will fight
And so they might
Dogs will back
Fleas will bite.
They will do what is right

I think about fleas and dogs. o.O alright then.

>WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
Daddy's Little Girl by Michael Buble

Daddy Daddy don't leave
Mommy's saying things she don't mean
She don't know what she's talking about
Somebody hear me out

Father listen
Tell him that he's got a home and he don't have to go
Father save him
I would do anything in return
I'll clean my room
Try hard in school
I'll be good
I promise you
Father, Father
I pray to you

I wanna be daddy's little girl. :D but then the lyrics are soo sad. :(
:))

>WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR BESTIE?
If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys

Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, Yeah

Yeeah, if I ain't got my bestie. ;)

>WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE?
Love and Marriage by Frank Sinatra

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
This I tell you brother
You cant have one without the other

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Its an institute you cant disparage
Ask the local gentry
And they will say its elementary

I do NOT think of love and marriage! :|

>WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU?
She's Perfect by Jimmy Eat World

She's perfect in her own way
Smoke rings rising to the winter grey
She's perfect in her own way
Shining, stepping off a silver train

>WHAT SONG WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING?
Hold On by Graham Colton

How long have I been spinning round your head?
So long I've been running round in circles
And for the longest time its been building up inside me
It's coming over the edge
And I step off that ledge and fall
Cause I can't hold, hold on
I can't hold, hold, hold on
So come here baby
Lets throw down all our cards
Cause I'm a king of spades
And your my queen of hearts
We can celebrate
And your lost at sea
And I will salivate
Please come to me
Cause I can't hold, hold on
I can't hold, hold on
No more prescriptions for the sickness yet come
It plaques us like we're first born sons
And we play this game
Now we're face to face
And I don't have the words
So I will cut to the chase
Oh but it hurts
And my hands will strain
At the touch of your face
Yeah the dragons slain
I fall from grace
Cause I can't hold, hold on
I can't hold, hold on

Isn't it strange how a lot of these things come out accurate? :P

>WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL?
Fireworks by Plain White T's

Well I don't mind waiting 'til you're comfortable with me
But what's it gonna take to prove that I'm for real?
'Cause you know how I feel about you
You know I can't live without you
I just wanna stay and make it real

'Cause I know, you know
it can't get much better
Fireworks flyin' whenever we're together
I know, you know, that I know you love me

Well I've made up my mind that I want you to be the one
The one I wanna be with when I'm ninety-two

I just wanna feel you tonight
making sure the moment's just right
I could die just staring in your eyes
I just wanna feel your heartbeat
hold you even closer to me
Fall asleep with you right by my side
We'll see fireworks tonight

"I could die just staring into your eyes.... The one I wanna be with when I'm ninety-two...."
Ironic, huh? =))

Well, that was just weird. :)) Steal if you want to.

It was weird 'cause the songs that came out sort of suited the question. :)) wala lang, it was cool. :))

God bless you guys! Take care always. ;)

I couldn't sleep without finishing the Bellossom (flowery pokemon) last night. XD Good thing this is probably going to be a short-term thing.

Those are Bellossom and Charmeleon. :D

By the way, the fiery effect didn't work with Charmeleon. :( Oh well.

Thanks! God bless, take care. :D

The power of fire. >:)

I'm a big Pokemon fan. Ever since I was 6 years old, I've loved it. <3 I memorize them better than the Periodic Table of Elements. :)) haha. Yeah.

Anyway. Here're a couple of drawings I did late last night/early this morning. I like 'em. ^.^ I edited them a few minutes ago, on Adobe Photoshop (Ver. 7.0). Not much editing, actually. :)) I just fixed the contrast, 'cause it came out blurry on the scan. And, I realized that when I adjusted to contrast, it looked like real fire. :)) Soo cool.

Those are Ponyta (horse thing) and Moltres (bird thingiee), by the way. :D

Please rate and comment! :)

God bless! Take care. :)

I like this song. It's by Fall Out Boy (whom are, by the way, having a concert this September in the Philippines). It's become very popular. Although there's one line I dislike: "In case God doesn't show...", the melody is cool. And so is how the title is spelled. XD

Okay, so I'm bored. :))

Take care, God bless. :)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Yes, I'm sure the title has been overused already by this time. And I'm sure most of you have already read it. But I just CANNOT leave this entry inside my head: I must come out (that sounded so wrong XD).

I received my copy of this wondrous, amazing, SPECTACULAR book the day it was released. I was ecstatic! And at the same time, disappointed, since I knew I would be busy the WHOLE WEEK... No exaggerrating: WHOLE WEEK.

You can imagine how much of the book I got done. If you can't: not a lot. Or at least, not as much as I expected I would finish. Most of my friends had finished it the day after it was released; some the same day it was released. And they were all pretty much waiting for me to finish. I had to fight off the spoilers and those annoyances like "You know what Nicah, *insertnamehere* dies!" It was so annoying (quote and quote: annoyances)!

Anyway, I finished it. And before anybody can get mad at me...

WARNING: DO NOT READ THE TEXT IN PURPLE BELOW UNLESS YOU'VE ALREADY READ THE BOOK. YOU WILL HATE ME AND YOURSELVES FOR SPOILING IT.

I was actually a bit disappointed that most of the book's setting was out of Hogwarts. I missed all the adventures and discoveries the trio, Hermione, Ron, and Harry made; being the rebels that they are. But I cannot deny how cool it ended up being: how all the books became clearly intertwined; how Harry (and everybody else) grew up and their feelings, actions and language has changed, now that they're in their 7th year at Hogwarts; and how everything ends up bittersweet (I've never been a fan of the sweet stuff). J.K. Rowling is made of magic. *bows in reverence*

Voldemort. How I've grown to hate him while reading each and every book. It's great to find out that he finally dies: and even if it was expected, the way he died, and the way Harry killed him was spectacular. I was a bit confused, admittedly. The end of the book was much of a blur, with everybody dueling, Mrs. Weasley's shrieking of "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU *female dog*!", and of course Harry finally knowing everything, EVERYTHING about Dumbledore, Voldemort, and Snape. It was a bit hard to keep up. But once you understand it, and see how everything falls into place, it's truly a spectacular book.

And of course, who can forget the epilogue? :> The book could've done without it, but of course, what kind of self-respecting author like J.K. Rowling keeps her fans dangling like that, right? :)

OK YOU GUYS, YOU CAN READ NOW. ;)

I will miss reading about Harry Potter, his adventures, and the lessons he learned along the way. Harry Potter will forever be a part of my life. I will never forget how a 1st grade student fell in love with The Sorcerer's Stone, and stayed true to Harry until she, herself was in her 7th year at her school. And she will continue to dream and wonder of him, of how he lived his life with love, friendship, and fame.

I may sound like a drama queen, but this is how I feel. Live with it. :P

Hats off to Ms. Rowling, and may Harry's story live with us forever. :)

Take care guys, God bless. :)

May your swords stay sharp, your heart filled with love, and your wands enticed with magic. ;)

Kids Nowadays

Today, I was reading the blogs of a few of my friends. Nothing out of the ordinary, really. But I noticed something: Us kids are getting more and more aware of the world around us.

One friend of mine wrote about PEACE, and how our world is far from achieving it. And, in my opinion, almost all of the other problems we have in the world fall under the lack of PEACE. Problems such as corruption, discrimination, poverty and violence [just to name a few].

I know that there are a lot of skeptics out there who might be saying "The world's a big place, there's peace everywhere!" or maybe, "That war in Iran? That's only ONE war. Name me 5 wars that occured in the past 5 years THEN I'll be worried." Believe me people, WE NEED TO ACT TODAY.

If you don't believe me, take a look at this:

Just A FEW Of The Problems That Our World Faces

1. Corruption
Being a Filipino, I know all about this. Who cares if I'm just almost 13, corruption is EVERYWHERE. In my country, our people is divided into 3 groups: the rich, the fortunate, and the poor. And just so you can picture how corrupt it is in the Philippines: the way the money goes around is one way. The rich just get richer and richer, and the poor just get poorer and poorer. And that's just in the Philippines. The rest of the world has its own corrupt issues as well. In countries, political leaders bribing and stealing, and sometimes even killing. In offices, the smart yet less-fortunate workers lose their jobs to the less-smart but very-fortunate ones. I'm sure you can even name some forms of corruption in your schools or neighborhoods.

Cor-rup-tion - n. 1. impairment of integrity, virtue, or moral principle 2. inducement to wrong by improper or unlawful means

Corruption is everywhere. Whether it's about money, or popularity, or whatever, it's everywhere.

2. Discrimination
Racism, sexism, ethnicism and even hairism, if you want to get really specific. They are all forms of discrimination. People are killed and marginalized and looked down on like trash just because of where they're from, or how they look, or what their religion is. Another friend of mine talked about the movie "Freedom Writers", just another example of people are getting more and more aware of discrimination.

Is there really any reason to discriminate others? People, we are all human beings. We all have feelings. We have minds that think, and hearts that beat. We were all created by one superior being we call our God. If we look at the palms of our hands, are they not all the same color?

Think about it.

3. Poverty
More and more people end up on the streets everyday. More children with no futures are born into poor families every second. This is happening all over the world. In the Philippines alone, 80% of the estimated 91 million population is in poverty. And a part of that 80% are children. "The youth is our future." What future do we then face...?

A lot of us are thinking... Why don't they just get jobs? Corruption. Why don't other people help them? Discrimination. Why don't they try to help themselves with the projects the government offers? Because they feel they can provide for themselves, even when the answer is right in front of them.

4. Violence
War, murder and even just small cat-fights between classmates, they are all forms of violence. A lot of video games portray real fighting scenes and war set-ups. Guess what? Your little brother has been playing with it.
A lot of people don't realize how serious the problem of violence is becoming. Why? Because it's become a part of everyday life. Seeing a 5 year old kid kick his younger sibling is just as common as seeing water in the toilet.

We cannot be ignorant to how the youth is growing up - and that is with violence all around them.

Us kids are the future. What we are right now is what our world faces. And right now, we know what's going on. We know what needs to be changed.
Question: What can we do?
Answer: Gandhi said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Let's act today.

Take care you guys, and may God be with you. :)

Love your neighbor as yourself. --Mark 12:31

Reading

I'm back, bloggie. I've missed you. I'm sor - no, it's not another website, it's jus - I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. You wouldn't want me to fill you up with boring stuff, would you? There, there, I'm not losing my touch. Things will be fine. Lookie, I have a new entry already! Now, there's the smile I've missed. :)

[forgive me, my blog is just a bit sensitive. She doesn't like it when I "forget" to post. She has issues.]

I'll admit it: I'm a bookworm. I just love books. Especially fantasy and realistic fiction... and maybe sci-fi too. But that's aside from the point. I just don't understand how somebody can hate dislike reading.

Let's do a sanity check. [refer to previous blog entry if this is all unclear to you]

Why Reading Is So Likeable (And No, That's Not A Typo)

1. It's a great way to get rid of boredom.
If you have the right kind of book, reading can be a great way to kill* time. I remember that when I was reading the 5th Harry Potter book (props to Ms. Rowling), I started reading at around 2 in the afternoon, and ended at 5 pm. Gosh that was a good book. But, yeah, there's my point. If you're stuck at home, ripping your hair out 'cause you're bored to the extent of being willing to watch grass grow, don't watch grass grow. That's just too weird. Grab a book. Your hair will thank you.

2. It takes you to different places, into different dimensions, into different people's lives. You get it.
Great authors, such as J.K. Rowling, James Patterson, Lois Lowry and Andrew Clements know how to take their readers into their characters' setting. That's technically speaking. And fortunately, I'm not technical. Technical people talk extremely boringly and deeply. I am more.... Free-versed. Yeah, whatever. :)) So in free-versed terms, amazing authors just completely make you WANT to read their books because they're just so amazingly interesting. Let's say.... James Patterson decided to turn Star Wars into a book. While reading it, you can feel yourself as Anakin Skywalker. You can feel yourself flying in a trooper, and kicking clone butt. That's just how great of an author Mr. Patterson is. *bows in reverence*

3. It gives your imagination wings, and your hands a mind of their own.
In boring technical terms, reading develops our writing skills and our capabilities to imagine. Props again to Mr. Patterson for helping me hone my book-writing skills. ;)

4. Your teachers and parents will appreciate your love for reading.
Adults just love seeing kids read. I don't know why, but they do. Oh, wait, let me ask my dad.

Nicah: Why do adults like seeing kids read?
Dad: Because... Reading is... Fun - damental.

...Don't mind him, he's only 20 percent adult. Too bad it only shows when he gets mad. :| Anyway, adults just like it. And if you're already an adult (thanks for reading my blog, by the way :D), reading just makes you feel good about yourself.

5. It's a good excuse for staying up late at night.
For those night owls who just can't sleep at night, reading's a good way to spend your restless nights. ;) As simple as that.

I'm sure there are more reasons. But I can't name them all. Much too many. ;) You guys... Just try it out. Maybe a lot of people dislike reading 'cause they haven't exactly given it a chance because they think it's dorky or something... but seriously, it's not. I bet even Brad Pitt reads. :P And consider yourselves extremely blessed, because a lot of people can't even read. It's a gift that you should take advantage of and put to use in the best of ways.

So just take the chance to read while you still have good eyesight, and while the good books are still on the shelves. And if you STILL don't like it, oh well. At least you tried. ;)

God bless you guys. Take care. :)

P.S. I love Maximum Ride. That's a good book to read. :D By, of course, Mr. James Patterson.

*psycho music starts playing

Blogging

You know what, I don't really understand the main purpose of blogging. So today, I'm going to make a list of the possible purposes. As a great teacher once said, "Making lists is a way of making sure you're still sane." I'm living proof of this. Yeah, right.

Purposes of Blogging

1. To let strangers friends into your personal life.
It's always good to keep your friends updated on what's happening in your ever-eventful life (especially for us almost teens). Especially if your friends are in the states or something. So I guess that's one good use for blogs. But beware people. Stalkers and hackers lurk these webs. *evil laugh* Honestly.

2. A form of self-expression.
Sometimes, us human beings *ahem ahem* just want to rant about our awful day and let everything out. And that's just another purpose of the blog. It's much more "hi-tech" than keeping a journal, and let's face it, who REALLY wants to spend time writing in an old notebook with any old pen when you can use a fancy LCD monitor and a keyboard? That's right, nobody does. :))

3. To get into the "in" crowd.
This might sound like a lame reason, but it's true. Blogging is becoming sort of a "fad", if I may say so. What kind of person sits around enjoying writing in any old journal while all her friends are on Blogger, or Multiply? Some strangely weird person, that's who (not that there's anything wrong with strangely weird people. Hehe).

4. To speak your mind out without revealing your identity.
The truth must be revealed: a lot of people trash their enemies (and sometimes, friends) through their blogs. And what's extremely convenient for them is that it's very easy to lie on the Internet about your identity and such. I bet you've read the word !@#! and ?&*#$ way too many times on the Internet. Alright, so this might not be a very NICE feature of blogs, but hey, it's MY list. >:)

5. To get rid of boredom.
Must I say more? :D

...So I've come to the conclusion that blogs are just something every person has a use for. Honestly. So get a blog today. *wink*

Eww. I sound like an ad. :))

God bless you guys, take care!

1st Day Hype

The 1st day of Grade 7. Wow. The whole day is sort of too long to tell about, so here's a list of things I like and don't like about grade 7. So far, at least.

Pros

1. Air-conditioned classrooms.
Okay, so this is one very good thing about being the grade school seniors. We get the best building with the air-cons. :))

2. My homeroom advicer is Ms. Capule. :>
Those studying in my school already know who she is. ;) She's only one of the most awesome, most hilarious, most amazing teachers in Miriam. PLUS, she was my math teacher last year, so we're tight. *does hiphop thingy*

3. My seatmate is Camille. ^_^
Camille is a very close friend of mine. :> I'm so glad she's my seatmate. We're gonna make so much noise. :))

4. Good teachers. ;)
As far as I know, at least. ;)

5. Our class color is BLUE. :>
Meaning our Phy. Ed. shirt is blue. :> Just like our jogging pants. :)) But at least it's blue! A very cool color. ;) And, blue is lke... Our signature color. :)) Well, obviously.

6. My classmates are real funny and nice. :D
Just to name a few.... Alitha! Wooh! Camille [as mentioned above]. :> Miki [aka Mister Bean]. Gabin. :D An old friend. Well, there, we're going to have a blast. ;)

7. We have batch night. :>
When we can party all night long. :D

8. My class number is 31.
Hehehehe. :)

Cons

1. The rest of the school that isn't air-conditioned, it's friggin' hot. :|
Every second out of the classroom is sweat. Sweat. Sweat.

2. We're on the 4th floor. :|
Our legs will be uber muscular at the end of the year. :))

3. More rules.
Self-explanatory. :|

4. I'm away from SO MANY of the friends I said I wished I would become classmates with. :(
Sigh. Christine. Basia. Mateh. Kat. Kirsten. :( Oh well, at least Camille and Gabin are in Tagbanua (my section) with me. :D And, I'm sure I'll make even MORE friends. ;)

5. More work, less play.
It may sound harsh, but it's true. Need to manage time. :( Bye bye everyday YM and blogging.

So there you go. What I've learned/discovered about 7th grade so far. :D More to come.

God bless you guys, take care. :)

6.13.2007

7th Grade

Yes. Tomorrow, June 14 year two-o-o-seven, I become a "sevvie", a 7th grader, a kid in grade 7.

Am I scared? Maybe a a little bit.
Am I worried? Just slightly.
Am I excited? Definitely.

The first two grades of middle school (5th and 6th grades) were good, I guess. They were GREAT, actually. I had good friends, good teachers, and pretty much everything about it was good. Except of course the occasional slip up of forgetting a project or assignment at home. And the small [and sometimes BIG] fights I had with my friends. Overall, though, middle school has so far been great. :)

But from what I've heard, I think 7th grade will be even better. ;) Us sevvies will be the SENIORS of the grade school. Every 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grader will look up to us [in theory]. Then of course, the preparations for graduation.

*squeals* I'm going to graduate! :) All those years have hard labor are finally going to pay off. :)

Anyway, even if the lessons and teachers *ahem* will be deadly tougher, I'm sure Grade 7 will be a blast. :) And if it won't be, I'll still get through. Heh. Heh. Hehe. :D

Anyway, I need to go prepare for school tomorrow. 7th grade, ya know? ;) I'll see you guys later.

God bless, take care. :)

Writing

As a lot of people know, I'm a dictator writer. :)

I used to be a JI Snoop [junior writers for a major newspaper in the Philippines]. But my term ended last year. XD
Won an essay writing contest in 6th grade. :)
Was in the the top 25 for the Readers' Digest Philippine Pen Awards 2007. :)

Anyway, I love writing. It's one of my 3 passions. Ever since I discovered I could write well, it's been something I love doing. Poems, essays, stories, whatever.

So, anyway, I've been writing this book. Basically, I want to let everyone know what a teen's life is really like. The ups and the downs. The pros and the cons. You get it. ;) So I came up with the characters, the plot, everything.

As of now, I'm only at chapter 5, but I'm getting along well. :) And, I've drawn a couple of the characters. As seen above.

In college, I plan to take up journalism. And literature. In my working days, I'll strive for a good job in a leading newspaper or magazine. One day, you will see my name on a book about teenage life.

But for now, I'll stick to my little blogs. I'll stick to the masterpieces I store in my computer. Then, everything will come out to show my talent. :)

Every night, I thank God for the talent He's given me. :) I thank Him for my hands to hold a pen, my brain to think up ideas, and my heart that has the passion to write. :)

God bless you guys! Take care. :)

First Post

Okay, so this is my first entry. :)

I'd just like to say some things.

I'm a very happy, not emo, energetic, almost 13, Christian girl.

Hehehe. :)

As you read my future posts about my life and such, I hope you're touched. :D

Take care, God bless. :)
